Spring & Summer
The most popular window. Rohtang opens in May, the valley turns impossibly green, and temperatures in Manali town are perfect. Book early —this is when most families and honeymooners come.
Monsoon Season
Clouds roll through the valley and the waterfalls are magnificent. Landslide risk on Rohtang, but Old Manali, the temples, and Naggar are all at their most lush and atmospheric. Rates drop sharply.
Winter & Snow
Solang Valley transforms into a ski resort, snow blankets Manali town, and the crowds vanish. Rohtang closes but the snow experience in the valley itself is magical. Pack serious cold-weather gear.

When is the best time to visit Manali?
March to June is peak season Rohtang is open, the weather is pleasant, and the valley is at its most photogenic. December to February is ideal for snow and skiing in Solang Valley. July to September is monsoon lush but with occasional road closures. Manali is accessible year-round, unlike Spiti or Ladakh.
Do I need a permit for Rohtang Pass?
Yes Rohtang has a daily permit limit (around 1,200 vehicles per day) and they must be booked online in advance. We handle the permit application as part of every package the moment you confirm your dates. Permits open at midnight and can sell out quickly in peak season, so timing matters.
How do I reach Manali from Delhi or Chandigarh?
By road Chandigarh to Manali is roughly 8–9 hours (310 km); Delhi to Manali is 14–15 hours (550 km). Overnight Volvo AC buses from Delhi are a popular option. We also provide private pickup directly from Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, or Jalandhar we'll build it into the package.
Is Manali suitable for families with children?
Very much so — it's one of Himachal's most family-friendly destinations. The altitude (2,050 m) is gentle enough that altitude sickness is rarely a concern. Rohtang can be cold and high for very young children, but Solang Valley, Old Manali, and the main sightseeing circuit are all easy and enjoyable for families with kids of any age.
Can I combine Manali with Spiti or Kasol?
Absolutely. Manali–Kasol is a popular 6–7 night combo. Manali–Spiti is a longer 10–14 night circuit — you can loop in via Manali and out via Shimla or vice versa. We build combined itineraries all the time and can share sample plans on WhatsApp in under 10 minutes.
What should I pack for Manali?
Layered clothing year-round — even in summer, evenings at 2,050 m get cold. For Rohtang, pack a heavy jacket and good shoes even in June. In winter, proper thermals, snow boots, and gloves are essential. Don't overpack — most hotels have laundry service, and you can buy woolens affordably in Manali's market.
