About Lahaul and Spiti

Spiti Valley India’s breathtaking cold desert in the Himalayas

Spiti Valley is not a destination for the faint-hearted — and that is exactly what makes it extraordinary. Located at an average altitude of 3,800 metres in the remote Trans-Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh, Spiti is a high-altitude cold desert sculpted by millennia of wind, water, and ice. Ancient Buddhist monasteries cling to cliffs, villages hang impossibly on mountainsides, and the sky is a shade of blue you will not find anywhere else in the world.

Shardha Tour & Travel operates the full Spiti Circuit — both the Shimla-Spiti route via Kinnaur and the Manali-Spiti route via Kunzum Pass. Our Spiti packages are designed for travellers who want to experience authentic remote India with the safety and comfort of an experienced local guide.

Spiti Valley Package FAQ

Do I need a permit to visit Spiti Valley?

Indian nationals do not require a permit for Spiti Valley. However, for the Pin Parbati Pass, Shipki La, and areas near the Tibet border, an Inner Line Permit (ILP) is required. We handle all permit paperwork as part of our package.

Yes. Spiti is at 3,800–4,500 metres and altitude sickness is a real risk. We plan our itineraries with proper acclimatisation days built in, and our drivers carry basic first aid and oxygen at all times. We recommend consulting your doctor before the trip if you have any heart or respiratory conditions.
